I am planting out my tank, now that I have decent lighting, and was going to put some easy plants in there. I already have Java moss, microsword and some hornwart left over from when I had poor lighting. Now it seems to be growing.

I want to get some amazon swords, java fern and maybe some crypts. It's all easy to grow stuff, but I'm wondering if I need any fertilizer. I have sand for substrate. There's nothing extra in there. No CO2.

Do I need fertilizer, and what should I get if I do? Liquid or tabs?

I think you will do fine with some tabs for the the crypts and swords. What lighting did you upgrade to?

I have two GE daylight(6500K) tubes, 48", 40W each.

Sounds good, tabs and no CO2 should work just fine for you. I do not see a reason to add anything else. If you run into issues with your plants then you may need to add something else.

What tabs do you recommend?

Thanks. Two questions:

"Copper: 0.00011%" is that amount of copper in any way harmful to invertebrates? I don't have any (that I want) but I might in future.

Would Flourish Excel be useful too?

Not enough copper to make a difference. Excel will provide a source of carbon, it would not hurt and probably would give you better growth.

Uh oh... what's "Nitrogen equivalent"? I have enough nitrates already.
