I have my small 3 gal tank and was wondering if one of those small jebo HOB filters was sufficient enough. It doesn't seem to do a good job filtering since it's only got those proprietary carbon bags. Is there a good filter someone could recommend for a 3 gal tank? Something that'll to a solid job of maintaining the water? Should I go with an AC? would that not be to powerful?

Why don't you just add an AC sponge to your Jebo filter.
It should be good enough that small a tank.
You can also do two water changes a week to make sure all is well.
Its not like you are going to have a lot of fish in it.lol
Are you?

A gar would look great as a fry!lol
In reality a beta or shrimp are all that would live long in a tank that small!
