I am just curious as to what you ladies and gentlemen do for a living? I'll start--I am a VP for Corporate Compliance and Quality Improvement for a contract rehabilitation company. I am also a Speech-Language Pathologist by trade. Anyone else willing to share?

Mechanical engineering. The mainstay of my people.
My roommate for 2 years in undergraduate school was a Mechanical Engineer. I remember this project he did once with which I helped. He was "working" for Corning and they wanted to do a study on temperature retention for their crock pots. He decided to use canned baked beans as the medium. My god, we had baked beans all day every day for weeks. With bacon. And beer. With sausage. And beer. With carrots. And we had some beer, did I mention that?

Like farts. And baked beans. And beer. And...well, smoky things, but that's another story alltogether.

Depends on the time of day and day of week for me
Mon-8a-4:30p----babysitter
5-7p--------industrial office cleaner for Step2
Tues-8-4:30-----babysitter
5-?--------bartender at the local American Legion
Wed-8-4:30------babysitter
Thurs------------same as Tues
Fri---------------same as Mon
I occasionally get weekend bartending jobs for private hall rentals, and once the VFW re-opens I will be bartending there every other weekend from 6-?
Once my youngest gets in school fulltime I will go back to being a school bus driver.....my favorite job so far of all that I have had.

I have to work with people who know SQUAT what to do, since they work at different places to take care of the staffing shortages, and half dont know english, so im stuck working my @$$ off.
Mcdonalds is paying good too. 10$ part time, and 13 FT

Currently, I'm a bus driver for the local transit system. I got sick and tired of being couped up in an office and being "nice" to the public ... lol.
Before that, I worked as a fleet supervisor for a large car rental company both in Canada and in Germany. Also, when I lived in Germany I worked for a large electronics company. Started out with repairs/shipping and moved my way up to travelling across the country as a CSR.
I even worked in an adult video store for awhile ... thumbs2:
I'd like to try and (finally) finish my commercial pilot's license next year, get an instructors rating and do that on my days off.

I have five guys that I take care of in my department...they are great! I love my job...I am the middle-man (woman) which is what suites me best...I definitly don't want to be the low man on the totem pole, but I don't want to be the one giving orders to everyone (just one or two peoplem lol!)

Interesting thread and it's neat to hear what you all do when you're not here.
Kimmers, you and I have followed pretty much the same path. I also had a cleaning service and cleaned offices and mobile home park clubhouses. Also cleaned new construction and model homes. Wouldn't clean if people were there, tho, like housecleaning. I like to do the buildings that are closed for the night. People following me around while I was trying to work drove me nuts.
Aliz.....I know what you mean about working for the public!!! 42 years of it for me and now I don't care if I see a soul for two weeks at a time. Just found a HUGE mouse nest in the backseat of my car!!!!!! Is that a sign of staying home a lot. LOL

The quickest way to the bottom line? I have no real idea.
Just act like you are interested, but walk away and wait for them to call you.
They will call you.
We don't haggle at my company, so I don't really know for sure.
Joyride customers?
I hate to say it, but you can really be kinda rude to customers at my job and get away with it. You are comission sales, and our managers understand that.
If we don't want to "joyride" a customer, managers TOTALLY understand.
