My long finned tetra's are no longer on the top of my list. It's the zebra's danio that has taken center stage. I HATE THIS FISH and how on earth did I ever end up with 8 males and one female.!!!!! ppttfff I wish I could suck them up with my gravel vac.

One of my old fish that i really loved, but sometimes ticked me off was my african butterfly.
He would be constantly fussy about his crickets. I would have to dangle them by his mouth, and sometimes he would only like big crickets, and sometimes small. Sometimes he would take so long to eat, a angelfish or puffer stole the cricket.

I have to ask why you hate these fish, I have 5 and I think they are nice, not my favourite but I don't hate them.
And whats wrong with Buenos Aeres tetras?

I like easy-going tanks. I can't stand the constant frenzy of these fish. I love my long-finned danio's and love my rasbora's but can't stand these zebra's and not being able to catch them does not endear them to my heart any better. I catch them again, they will not be going in another tank. I'm about ready to knock them in the head with my wooden spoon.

Vicious fellows. I kept a small group but they still decided to gang up on the other fish.

Chrona, I had a couple of the chinese algae eaters and they were vicious with each other.....or maybe they were the Simamese. I don't know the difference but they sure had a thing for another of it's own species.
It's funny how fish can be so different and even the same species. I love my black skirt tetra's but didn't care for the long-finned or rosie's. The long finned didn't school, would chase my black skirts and were not high up on the popularity contest with me either. The rosies just swam on the bottom of the tank all day.
The tank with the zebra's is right next to my computer. All I see all day is zoom/zoom/zoom ....chase/chase/chase. My angels are soooo wanting to catch them and I am soooo wanting them to.

The Chinese algae eater get mean towards all fish later on, as I found out. Plus they don't eat algae after they get a whiff of fish food, so it's pointless to keep them imo. True Siamese Algae Eaters, on the other hand, are amazing.

I would have to agree about the true Siamese Algae Eaters (SAEs). We have two in our tank and they're great. They eat the periodic flake, but still really go after the algae (which we still have plenty of:P)

I'll have to second that one, and maybe add that I hate dead ones that die in logs (i.e. places where you can't see them!)

Or in decorations! I have this awesome castle that I can't use. It has been the burial site now of one loach and two gourami's. Paid $30 for the darned thing, too.
Black skirt tetras. We had a school of 8 of them, and one of them was the bully. Constantly after the other tankmates. Finally separated the bully into a 10 gallon tank with glowlights and neons. He's happy now, but the other black skirts are still a little aggressive toward their tankmates. Better, but not totally fixed.
Lady, why can't you use the castle? Because of the history of it or is it designed like a death trap? Fishy castle of doom? Haunted castle?:wink2:

I got this castle from PetSmart on line. In the stores the little tiny castles are $50 so I felt this big one really worth the money. It is pretty. I contacted them about this being a death trap and before I got my letter to them, they had already stopped carrying it so I guess others had a problem with it as well. The design is awful.
There are several openings for the fish. Problem is, the openings narrow down and the fish get into it and can't get out. One of my gourami's died with his head popping out. The other went the same way but wasn't dead yet when I found him. I worked and worked to get that guy out and by the time I "rescued" him he was tore up so badly and nearly cut in half. I removed the castle and boy, did it stink. I cleaned it up and put it outside to air out. Picked it up a few days later and a dried up carcuss of a loach fell out. How long he'd been in there I have no idea but he was rotten.
I have been able to jam plastic bags into some of those openings but still afraid to use it so it sits in the closet. *sigh I will save it for very large or very small fish.
Wow, that is horrible, absolutely horrible.

I hate my wife's plecos ... they are fun to watch and keep the tanks clean - but they are just plain poop machines. I did a vacuum /WC today and I must of sucked up 10 pounds of pleco poo. I'm getting them an outhouse!

I'm not keen on the red wag tailed platys to be honest. I thought they would add some colour to the tank, but they're just fat greedy fish, and they kicked the cráp out of my siamese fighter. And I think the male fish is gay. He's in with 3 females, and no sign of any babys

Im not too keen on live bearers. I only keep the guppies because my mom thinks "theyre pretty!". And now we have three fry. When will it end?
I love mollies! Esp. the dalmations...but I like them all...
The red wag platies are so cute! Always so happy! Not sure if I like the blues...they just look like yet another silver fish to me..and there seem to be a plethora of non-descript grey fish on the market...but at least they're a pretty shape...
Guess I find the barbs the least appealing...never had any...never want any...
If we're talking about decor...what I don't like are cutsie decorations, I've never seen the appeal of plastic grinning skulls, bubbling treasure chests...or miniature bridges, castles, anything along that line...
...a real skull, on the other hand, would be awsome!

We use to have a plaster skull around the house somewhere. Cant find it anymore. Probobly smashed it on the drivway as a kid.

Speaking of things to look for, im ticked. I have a 5g and 2 10g's somewhere in the house, and i cant find them. The 5g had hermit crabs, and the 10g's were old saltwater and guppy tanks. When i quit fishkeeping, i stored the 20g hex, 33g, and the 120g, and sold them later on.

I can't say I hate any fish/animal, but I strongly dislike tiger barbs after them nipping all the fins off a molly a while back.

I've no desire to get barbs of any kind either. Snippy little dominating fish don't appeal to me at all.

My least favorite would have to be the white skirt tetras that my daughter picked out way back in the beginning. They are the nippiest of fish, and the tank they are in is what I wanted as a peaceful community tank. They just harrass everyone, they don't do any damage, but they are pickers! Plus they are huge pigs trying to gobble up all of that food.
I have to agree with Hobbs on the barb situation, although I have found a tank they work well with. Some may remember last July I was given 2 fish to "save" a pleco and a lone tiger barb. I really didn't want a school of barbs for my community tank for that reason, but I left the lone tiger with the modestus puffer when I got him. That worked out quite well surprisingly, so I added a school of green/moss barbs to hang with him. They are just babies right now, but they stick together really nicely and it give the tiger barb someone to give as good as they get! They make a nice contrast to the mellow modestus and the dark green contrasts nicely with his light green so the tank looks nice. These guys are fast enough that the puffer leaves them alone and so far he has shown NO interest in eating them:19: . As a matter of fact, there is a baby guppy that was born in that tank, and Shamus leaves him alone too. So much for the information "highly aggressive" because mine is a big baby!

I hate goldfish! They are the Pigs of fishland!
They look stupid, they eat like pigs, they fill the tanks with nothing but waste and there are so many disgustingly deformed variations i never wana own any goldfish again!
...except 1 or 2 when cycling the tanks :hmm3grin2orange:

Thats where i dissagree. OSCARS are the pigs. Most of the ornate goldfish are very pretty too. I am partila to black moors, and i think i will get one for my 22. i dunno yet.

I think we all start changing our minds on what fish we want from when we started out. I remember as a kid having goldfish that always had a piece of poo 6 inches long hanging from it. uck That did it forever on the goldfish. I also think many community fish end up as cichlids, as well. I know I never would have thought to get a Severum in the beginning or rainbows or several other species that I want BAD now.

There aren't any fish types that I hate but I have had individual fish that were horrid. One was a female rosy barb. Normally very docile nice fish. This female was a terror! She chased every single fish in the 55g tank. Non stop, all day, every day! When I took her back to the LFS they didn't believe me when I told them but I was just so glad to be rid of her!! When she was gone, the tank became such a nice tank after that! The rest of the rosy barbs were wonderful and never bothered another fish.
Then there was the neon blue dwarf gourami. Put him in a heavily planted tank, he got along great with the other fish....but after a couple of days I notice the plants are looking a little ragged. Watch the tank and that darn gourmai was shredding the plants! If I chased him off one plant he would go shred another!! He went back to the LFS too!!
In the right tank I'd keep another dwarf gourami but not in a tank with delicate plants.....
Right now I've got some white tipped tetras that, while they're pretty enough, they do tend to chase the mollies in the tank as well as each other quite a bit. Again, in the right tank I think they'd be great but I don't think the angels or the pearl gourami appreciate the action. They'll stay were they are for now but I am seriously thinking of moving them to the 40g when I get it set up again.

Platies are the fish I dislike most. Had a couple when I was a kid. Stupid fishes took up a lot of room with their constant mating dance but failed to produce even a single fry.
Gave 'm away and got some guppies in return.

Pacu's.
I just don't get this fish at all. They're big, they're ugly, and they're kinda dumb and mean looking. They're considered a game fish in their homeland.
It's nothing really personal against the fish as much as the people that sell them. They know darn well how big they get and yet will sell them to a kid with a 10 gallon tank.

what is this fever?
is it for real??
Yes, it happens when you buy a severum. You become insanely attached to it, watching it for hours on end, marveling at the beauty. Then you want more. And more, and more!
