My lawn, and im sure some of you have this problem, has a few blank spots in the grass, and ours has (well, had now) a very large spot that had very little grass. About 3 weeks ago, I went out and got a couple bags of "scotts sun and shade patch master". It is a blue paperlike mulch that has grass seed and fertilizer in it. You just lay it over your blank spots, water it 2x a day for 15-20 minutes. This stuff is AMAZING! It looks soooo much nicer. I cant belive it. All you have to do in preperation is break up the soil down about 1"-2", and lay it down over that. I love it and i recommend it very highly to any of you with my problem. Here the link so you know what to look for if you decide to use it ( if found mine at walmart):

It wasnt looking too good, untill i mowed it. You are supposed to wait 3 mowings before you mow it, and today was its judgement day. I am very pleased with the results!

I've personally had better results using some topsoil and scotts seeds + starter fert, but meh. The problem with that mulch stuff is that the indentation remains, and so your lawn gets progressively bumpier, even if you can't see it because the grass is level.
It's also cheaper to do the topsoil method.
Just my two cents, having worked at a hardware store that sells lawn care products :)

If you water it enough, like we did, the soil sinks down to level. But then again, we did break the hell out of the soil. Thanks garden weasel!

Well, no that's my point. Bald spots in the lawn are usually indented, so if you don't add some topsoil to it before dropping seeds/fert/mulch mix, the new patch of grass will grow in lower, causing for a bumpy lawn later on.
Garden weasel eh? :P

Ours werent indented. I thought you were talking about because of the clumps of dirt. And yes, the garden weasel is the best lawn tool known to man!!!

You're in high school...and voluntarily tending the lawn???
Is it contagious? Can I send my kids over?

The only reason he is taking care of the lawn is because it is good practice for his planted tank :wink2:

Aquadise? I had decent dealings with that guys. Hobbs did not lol. Better off getting plants from a forumer or something imo, unless you can wait 2-3 weeks for shipping :)
