I would not use Ovaprim. It's much better and safer to hand-spawn them. By using Ovaprim you're taking them out of their natural cycle, sure, inducing fry, but also inducing stress in the goldfish.

And as it offers no reward on the numbers and survivability of fry, why not just do it naturally? Not like it's hard. Pick up the female, pick up the male - squeeze - rub together.

My two cents.

Can you really do that?
I ve never seen that before, lol.

Just wondering, if so, it would come in handy someday.:22:

This isn't the video I wanted to show, but it does show one half of the process. (This slightly altered process involves putting first the milt or eggs in, then the other, as opposed to what I think is better, which is to squirt the milt directly on the eggs as they are coming out.)

Many people think it's bad for the fish's mucus coat (this particular video only has a youtube rating of 3 stars) but really, if you have a healthy goldfish, of the right breeding age, and in a clean tank that will be fine shortly. I've never had a problem.

In my opinion, it is THE safest way to artificially breed goldfish. (Especially Fancies, who sometimes have trouble dropping their eggs.)
