do you want cichlids or community fish?

For cichlids...

1 or 2 oscars
or
a crazy mbuna tank
or
8 angels
or
some convicts

for community fish...

5 platys
20 neon tetras
3 clown loaches
2 honey gouramis
pleco
or
100 neon tetras and a heavily planted tank (really cool)

Theres plenty of options. Just need to know what kind you want

Don't buy before reading up on them, what will go with each species and how large each species get. That will save much trouble later. Check out the Compatiblility Chart here (in red) and you'll find good suggestions on compatible fish that can go together. Find a fish and click on it and it will tell what goes fairly well with it. There are always that one or two difficult that doesn't work well but on the majority, the charts are very good.

You could have a nice cichlid tank, a nice community tank, or a tank with Severums. I can not wait to get my severums!!!!!!

Decide what fish you really want and then get it set for them...

...THEN buy the fish...

Severums, i have never heard of them before....

what i do know is I would love two large fish with what ever else is decided.

Cichlids sound nice but i need to learn about them. Matter of fact I need to learn about all of them!

I also dont want the tank to look sparse! but more so an underwater scene say from the amazon!

Severums are awesome and just what you'd be looking for if you want to larger fish. They are cichlids but a more peaceful variety and other things can go with them.

Severums can work with corys, tetras, and lots of other peaceful fish. Mine just playful picks on the knife, no damage ever done
