You can purchase aquarium heaters.

Most are fully submersible. Just dunk, plug in and go. Most of them have thermostats that allow you to control the temperature. Some of the cheaper ones are set to heat to 75 degrees and have no dial for changing the temperature.

There is a hydor heater for small tanks, small and doesn't take up much room. http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3184687

With a tank that small you're going to have a fair bit of heat loss, may want to get a larger tank, maybe a 2.5g, or 5g tank.

I'm not sure why you'd even want to. Plants will be fine at room temperature and no animals will live in it anyway.

With a tank that small you will want a miniature heater, something on the order of this one ,

well i did some reading and the amazon sword needs a temperature of about 75 degrees so i figured i would need a heater, but if they can live in room temperature then i wont need a heater

Didn't realize you were just putting a plant in it, room temp is fine.
