I will be applying to a different LFS for a new job, most likely be close to full time. They require a resume though, does anyone have a pdf file or something that I can follow what to do. I have not worked that many jobs (maybe three-four) and not sure what to write. Thanks.

Do you have microsoft works on your computer....if so there is a resume format on there. If not google resume format. You will find lots on there.

When applying where I work I attatched pics of all my aquarium and reptile setups. It's not normally done but it paid off for me.

Thanks sailor, I was thinking about doing that. Do you think I should include that I am a regular part of a forum?

Absolutely! They can even check it out.Its easy for a new member to see all the posts you have contributed too.
They will also see all the game play.

It depends... have you said anything here you wouldn't want an employer to see? And for that matter, if you gave them your username and they were to do a Google search, would they turn up anything else you don't want them to see (if you use the name in multiple forums or something)? Obviously it would be good for them to see how knowledgeable you are and that you take an active interest in fishkeeping, but think carefully first.

If you're comfortable with letting them see everything they'd find, then by all means tell them. Just make sure you've thought it through. I know I've heard of employers looking up employees/job applicants on things like Facebook and due to a lack of privacy settings, finding out all sorts of things that people probably wouldn't have volunteered (drunken frat party pics, anyone?). Got to be careful what you post on the internet!

You could also potentially keep it generic... but if they did ask for specifics out of curiosity or something it wouldn't look good if you didn't want them to know the site and/or your username.

Depending on where you are applying for, some places do not take kindly to information that does not pertain to the job in question. After you get your resume done, keep it updated. every 5-6 months slap on what you have done for the last 6 months, and update any older info that may have changed. makes things a ton easier in the long run.

Also, read it backwards after you are done. It really helps to spot any errors. Just start at the bottom and read up, completly backwards. Sounds weird but you will notice most of the spelling/grammar mistakes.

For a job in a LFS store I would say a genuine interest and being part of a forum might pertain to the job.

Other tips
-Make sure that the first sentences are good and to the point. They should also be about what you can do for the company, not why you want the job. (if that makes sense)

- Make sure that it is well structured.

- Considering you havent had many jobs I would keep it below one page.

- Dont lie, but also dont underestimate your qualifications.

- Make sure spelling and grammar are 100% correct.
