Has anyone ever toyed with the thought of using blue led Christmas lights as moonlights? Also is moonlighting really something that is really beneficial? I have read articles on both yes and no.

I use xmas LEDs (blue of course) as moonlights on my 190g freshwater tank. It allows me to watch the plecos and catfish at night and is actually supposed to keep my arowana calm in the darkness. I love them!! :shappy:

I have LED ones on both my tanks, and I LOVE the way they look at night. My fish seem to like them too, because they don't get the abrupt "lights OUT" that they used to. The soft blue glow is plenty for them to see by, and there are shadows they can go into if they want.

The light patterns from water movement makes a wicked cool show too!

Blue ropelights work great, and are waterproof (dropped mine in the tank more than once while it was on) Can get a 12' length for like $7 at wal-mart.

Cool! Never thought of rope light! It's alot more easier to lay down then regular Christmas lights of course.
