Convicts and socolofi are from different cichlid sub-families, I seriously doubt that the description (offspring of male convict & female socolofi) is indeed fact.

Unless they are talking about some Lake Malawi cichlid that is called a convict in his area. Remember that common names are never official.

I agree with the kaybee and fishguy2727. The seller is either mistaken on which fish impregnated the female socolofi , or is applying the common name of "convict" to one of the vertically barred Malawi species.
