I just purchased two sparkling gourami today, and these fish are definitely on my list of most favorite fish now.
The two I have thus far are very inquisitive, and also quite mellow. And even though you initially think they're bland, the golden coloration accented with sparkles and bright blue eyes. Great fish.
At some point I believe I'll acquire a tank to put sparkling gourami together with some galaxy rasbora and a school of pygmy cories. I really like this idea ... yeah ... :)
I'll get pictures soon!

Congratulations on your new Sparkling Gourami! I just got one today myself and I have to agree with you that they are gorgeous, interesting little fish. It's all alone in a 10 gallon for the time being until I decide what else to put in there thumbs2:

Unfortunately the batteries in my camera are fading. But I was able to snap this one nice picture of my two sparklers. I haven't quite named them yet.

That is a good shot! I have kept them and found them just adorable, I'm glad you think so too.
Have yours made the croaking sound (more like a rapid clicking sound) yet? When mine did it (mainly when arguing amongst themselves at feeding time), it would really startle me and I never got used to it....made me jump every time LOL.

Thanks :)
I haven't heard any sounds yet, but they are still getting accustomed to their surroundings and staking out their own little area of it, I think.
I'm really enjoying these fish. :1luvu:

The two are now one. Gus, the dwarf gourami, ignored them completely, but the larger, bulkier of the two sparklings decided to get territorial.
No squabbling now. One casualty, but thankfully only one. Gus and the newly christened "Sid" have come to an understanding with only a single staredown ... and of course BabyCory gets ignored by all as usual.
It does tickle me to see Sid and Gus "taking turns" at who gets the cave.
