What does everyone think about wall aquariums? [Only Registered Users Can See Links.] has a lot of different wall hanging aquariums and other deluxe aquariums to look at. I recently finished that website and I am interested in feedback about what other fish hobbyists think about wall aquariums in general, the good and the bad. (I also have a 46 gallon and 10 gallon freshwater setup). Thanks

They look pretty, but are not the best environments for fish. They are only 6 gallons, and have a small surface area at the top, so you'll only be able to have one or two smaller fish. For the money, you could get a new 29 gallon setup or a used 55 gallon setup. You and your fish would get much more enjoyment out of one of those.

I don't care for them. Now, big tanks in the wall are another different story. :)

The idea of hanging 100kgs (100litres) off the wall makes me wonder, and that would be a small wall aquarium really, I will stick to the floor.
I fully agree with Hobbs!

4 inch depth for those poor guys to turn around in, thats like living in a bus! The porthole one looks pretty neat tho. Wouldnt keep fish in them. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I want a tank BUILT IN to the wall of a shower when I get my own place, I'll just make the wall like 10inches wide.

I have moved this as this is not an anncoement
I don't like the idea. Small/narrow/generally not cool for fish to live in. I agree with some of the other posters though in that a large, real aquarium, built into a wall, is a beautiful thing!

what does make sense is if you have a thin wall dividing 2 rooms you could gut out a bit and stick a regular 20g in it

One of my fishing buddies in oklahoma built his entire house around hunting and fishing. He has 2 living rooms, one has all of his african safari mounts, and the other has all of his north american stuff. In his NA room, he has i think its a 1200 gallon, or something huge like that, freshwater tank with catfish and bass and perch and crappie that he catches out of Kaw lake. Really cool house. Has a "lodge"feeling on the inside.
HOW many gallons? Holy crap! That must be an awesome sight!

That thing would be impossible to vacuum without sucking up fish
