On Sunday I got a male and female pair of what were labeled as Kribnesis, Pelvicachromis pulcher. Now I'm not sure though on weather or not they are the "Nigerian Reds", Pelvichromis taeniatus.
I have a short video here:[Only Registered Users Can See Links.]
and here are a few pics

If you need more to help identify, please let me know and I will get more, or a new video, as it seems to be clearer, yet darker, and I promise it will be more than 3 seconds! lol, batteries ran out in the camera

if you had only posted those bottom shots i would guess pelvicachromis taeniatus
in the top two photos to me they look more like kribs, but then in the bottom two they do look a lot like nyetes. i have not kept kribs but have nyetes, and they are of course very closely related. i have not seen nigerian reds before, and i am not somebody who could really give you an id here.
im sorry i am not much of a help. do post a video or a little clearer shot if you are able to get one. they are a bit fuzzy; still, they are great looking fish and appear nicely colored up. i am sure somebody will jump in and tell you exactly what they are.

i never realized that my pelvicachromis taeniatus were also called nigerian reds. i always just heard them called nyetes. it looks like you ID'd them in the other thread...
i need to read a little more closely before i reply...duh

how much were you charged for the pair? that may help you figure it out.
when i bought my pair of what i now know are 'nigerian reds' they were 35 dollars and the guy charges 40 now.
he sells kribs for much less...maybe you ended up with a great deal

I paid $19 for the pair. But in the stores around here, no one knows anything about fish, what their worth or anything, lol

Still, fish stores are businesses, and they charge for a profit. I think these look like kribs, but as FZ said, the bottom photos throw it off somewhat

the price says Pulcher, Taeniatus would have likely cost double.
Care is the same for both.
"Nigerian Red" is a trade name for 1 subspecie of Taeniatus
