Does anybody have a problem with them getting all mashed up in the rocks? I only split one in half and they all seem to break apart into the rocks :(

Sounds like you may have some outdated wafers. I use Hikari Algea Wafers. I have to break them in half to feed my BN pleco every other day. Even snapped in half, the Wafer doesn't disintegrate into the gravel before the pleco can devour it.

I might try picking up another small package of the Wafers from a different store and make sure the package isn't outdated.

Water chemistry plays a part in how long they will stay together as well.In my planted tank with a low hardness and acidic water they fall apart quickly,in my other harder water tanks they stay solid longer. How many are you feeding at once and how many fish do you have that eats them?

I have 2 corys, (I will be upping to six) 6 neon tetras, and 3 livebearers. I feed one wafer, split in half.

And I just bought the wafers yesterday lol.

None of those fish need algae wafers.

The Cory's?

The corys need bottom feeder wafers, not algae wafers. The bottom feeder wafers are much smaller. Corys are not big algae eaters. BN plecos, any plecos are.

Nope, notta. They will nibble at them a bit but that isnt there food needs.Get sinking catfish wafers for them and good quality shrimp pellets.

I use the Hikari wafers, and they seem to hold up pretty well (neutral pH, very soft water). My Otos like them, so there usually isn't too much left over. My Cories seem to prefer bottom feeder pellets.

** edit ** Taurus beat me to it.

I see. I do have Omege One shrimp pellets. I drop a couple in at night.

My algae wafers from Hikari do break up after a while if no one eats them. I dropped one in the tank the other day just to see what my Corys would do with them. They messed with them a bit, but the mollies and gauramis are what really gobbled them up!

The Omega One shrimp pellets should keep the corys happy and well feed. I don't think you need the algea wafers.

Mollies and gourami need algae in their diet.

I use the Hikari sinking wafer that have the cory on the package, and they demolish them like they havent eaten in a week. Also they dont fall apart at all, they just get kinda mushy.

I feed those algae wafers to my swordtails. algae is there staple diet and I try to kill all of the real stuff off. I've never seen one of my plecos eating one but the swordtails love them. I wish I could say I had them sit long enough to break up but my turtle seems to like them too and he scavenges the bottom too often for anything like that to go to waste. I have crushed them up to feed swordtail fry before and it does seem they fowl the tank quicker.

Plecos should be all over those things unless you're feeding them lots of other vegetables. Even so, plecos need some protein in their diet.

My mollies get food from [Only Registered Users Can See Links.]. They get a combo of supercolor flakes, freshwater flakes and supergreen flakes.

Also a few times a week they get bloodworms, tubifex worms and shrimp. All freeze-dried. I haven't gone frozen yet!

This happens to me too, but my corrys stick their mouth in between the gravel and eventually eat most of it.

I use the Hikari algae wafer for my SAE and Oto's and I use the Hikari sinking wafer for my Kuhlis. I am sure the SAE and Oto's get some sinking wafer to but I drop those in after lights out.
