ebjd dead why!

I lost one of my 2 ebjd today. I could tell something was wrong for a little while now becuase he was pooping out white. I read alot of info about these guys and I guess alot of people have this happen to them. There ebjd is doing fine and then all of a sudden he starts pooping white and then he dies. And alot of people said that they would buy 6 of these guys and only get 2 or 1 to live. Man this is hurting my pocket but I cant help but love these guys. Im hoping my other little guy makes it.

you'll get fish pooping white every now and then and they don't necessarily have a fatal parasite problem. How long was yours doing this ?

what are your water param readings and tank maintenance (sorry if this is an obvious question - it excludes stuff). Did you ever see external signs of parasites ? Especially, did you see an inflamed anal area, or something that peeped out of the anal vent every now and then ?

also, electric JD's are what they are; a 'creation'. I believe it is only a matter of time, if it is not happening already, that they begin to suffer from the same probs as many other popular aquarium species which are inbred; e.g. dwarf gourami. I think they may not be as hardy as the true JD.

I've always read to watch their poo as white indicates internal parasites. Boy, fish keeping goes to another level when we start checking their poo. LOL Adams fish were new. He'd only had them a couple months.

I would want to see white poop and white poop only over a coupla weeks before I would medicate for internal parasites. Especially with a new fish in a new set up. Mind you, if I saw other obvious signs like skinny belly but eating well I would move quicker. I don't think there's an internal parasite which will kill a fish in two weeks where the only (and i mean only) symptom is white poop (be vary careful that you don't have worms peeping out of the anal vent however; camallanus...horrible thing.

So if ya got the white poop for a couple of weeks, start considering what meds to use.

But I'm very slow to medicate; last resort.

Adam, I spent some time this morning on the angelfish forum and the discussion of internet worms was being discussed there. White poo is indicative of internal parasites. One of the top notch breeders there said that Jungle Parasite Clear works very, very well and several others votched on this product for worms. And fortunately it's easy to find for those of us who haven't a LPS nearby as Walmarts carry it. They said to make sure you use it as directed and as long as directed.

You should treat your other EBJD as well.

Even if by chance it isn't worms, it won't kill them but if it is worms and not treated, he will die as well.

Pooing white once then returning to normal is one thing but continuing to poo white is a good indication of internal problems.
