bumble bee catfish

I have a 2.5" bumble bee catfish in a 29g tank with 2 moors, 1 oranda, 2 kindda red/gold goldfishes and a sucker fish. My problem is i hardly ever see the catfish and can someone tell me about him?

These catfish like hiding spots. If you give shy fish lots of hiding spots they come out more since they know they have a place to dive to if a emergency comes.

I tried this to get my clownknife out more, and today i got lots more rock for the 33g, and hes coming out slowly

These guys are very strict nocturnal animals. The only time you will usually see them is during feeding time. If the temp fluctuates a lot you may want to get a heater to keep it at the high end of fluctuations, lost of changes in temp is a good way to stress them, leading to illness. A temp that is constant but at the top end is better than an ever changing temp. I only provide one or two hiding spots for them since they are so strict about not coming out during the day. Those spots are usually a piece of slate up against the glass. This way I can see them anytime I want without disturbing them. I would only feed Hikari Sinking Carnivore Pellets and/or New Life Spectrum Large Fish Formula (the largest sinking pellet by NLS).

Have you had him for a long time?

We bought one and for a long time, we never saw him, but as he got used to the tank, he started to come out more.

It helps if you have many places for him to hide and a lot of plant cover, he'll come out more often during the day.
