This has to be the coolest ghost shirmp I have ever seen. It is blueish. I don't know why, I got about two dozen and split them between the two tanks. One is really blue, but looks the same otherwise as the other ghosties. Same markings and everything. I have a couple photos, you can see the blue pigment. Any one have any ideas why this guy is blue? You can get a really good look at it if you click on the photo to enlarge it.

they might be river shrimp. They are commonly mistaken for ghost shrimp. Cool shrimp though!

I know the name 'ghost shrimp' covers many species. You can see the red joints on this shrimp and the white and black lines on the back. All of the shrimp have these markings. I have, in the past gotten a different kind, but these seem to be the most common. Here is another shrimp for the same batch. See the red joints, black and white stripes and red 'eyes' on the tail. The blue shrimp has these same markings. So, different species, color variant?

Are you feeding something blue? Sometimes ghosties change color on what they eat. Nice pictures BTW.

I was thinking that too. The only thing close to blue would be spirulina flakes, veggie wafers and aglea wafers.

As mentioned, "ghost shrimp" encompasses a large amount of species, but there is one species or group of species called "blue banded ghost shrimp" that may be worth looking into. I could not find many pictures but its a good bet imo

Thanks, I looked up the blue banded ghost shrimp but they look nothing like mine. I am thinking it is food. I am seeing more of the shimp in my 30 with the blueish color. But they shrimp in my 55 are not. Same shrimp for the same shipment. The 30 gets more plant based foods like the spirulina flakes. The 55 gets more meaty foods. So I am going to feed more spirulina to the 55 and see if it changes the shrimps colors.
