Hi Guys,
I have a 'spare' tank (that I only used for 2 weeks :18:) and am considering starting a small tropical setup (only stock gold's/minnows/oranda at present).
The tank is a clearseal 'pentagon' corner type tank - capacity is about 7.5 gallons - getting a heater/extra pump & filter/substrate etc won't be a problem - my question is what fish can I keep in this size tank? I really want to keep a catfish of some form but am clueless about what else I can have... ANy tips would be great!
Cheers

A Betta.
The tank is too small for other fish.

A betta or some tropical shrimp. If you put driftwood with some moss or some plants in there, they would love the climbing room. Shrimp can be a little sensitive to ammonia and such, so make sure the tank is fully cycled before putting them in. The good thing about shrimp is they have almost no bioload count so you could easily put 50-60 shrimp in the tank. I recommend cherry shrimp

A betta or shrimp, or even a combination (though as a caution some bettas like to eat shrimp and others just ignore them) of the two could work. There are some less common fish that could conceivably work in there, but I wouldn't experiment until you've succeeeded with a more basic set up with tropicals.

Here's a link to a list of teeny tiny fish ...

Some of them are more delicate than others, I think, though.

The easiest and most common fish is the betta. Celestial pearl danios would work if you can find them or some of the small killiefish. There is not catfish that I know of that is small enough to go into a tank of that size.

Hara jerdoni is the only catfish I can think of that could work.

There are many other fish like what you see on her list.
I definately recomend you look into trying to source some of them.
I have never seen most everything on her list of tiny livebearers but I don't have the access she does to that huge selection. She definately has some sweet tanks. Most of her species of fish never make it to North America.
