I was just wondering if it was better to feed fish in the morning or at night before you go to bed. Or does it not even matter? What do you do?

I think the only time it matters is if you have fish that feed only at night. A lot of catfish, loaches and plecos feed and night and rarely come out during the day. Since most of my tanks have this type of fish in them, I feed at night to ensure there will be food left for them when they come out to eat.

Hmmmm, so more than once a day? I thought once a day was the norm?

There are some kinds of fish that only eat at night - almost all of my fish are freshwater community fish that are active all day so I feed the just a little bit 3 times a day. (No more that what they can eat in a few minutes.) I have an eel that I feed every couple of days or so - he pops out when I feed the others if he's hungry.

I feed in the morning and again at night, in the morning I give it about an hr after turning the lights on, to give them time to get active.
I try to feed once a day...in the mornings if I can...mostly so I don't forget...but in the evenings when I work the early morning shift (fish are still sleeping when I leave the house)...
...and I don't feed on Sundays...
...it depends on the fish of course...noctural feeders should be feed immediately before lights out...fry need to be fed more often...
But most pet fish are grossly overfed...leading to health issues, not to mention water quality issues...some of the fish guys I've met feed every 2-3 days...

I have heard of people feeding only a couple of times a week, and also of starving there fish for a week from time to time.
I know you're often better off not feeding your fish if you go away for a week...than getting a fish-sitter!

i feed morning and evening, but there are some special situations like the condylactis anenome only eats twice a week.
I sometimes do that starve the fish thing for 1 day a week. Kinda makes sense

Because food in the wild is sporatic?

yep. There are microrganisms in the tank that he eats, and there is a special type of gel inside the anenome that makes food when there is good lighting. Both these cannot last him enough, so he gets krill 2 random times a week. If i fed him a tiny bit each day, he'd get too reliable on me, and if i say had to go away for 3 days, he wouldnt eat since he knows the pattern is off.

And the reason others with "regular" fish do the skip-a-day thing is similiar as well? (Except for the making his own food bit of course!)

I try and keep a little sporadic schedule going with my fish, since they dont have a meal plan in the wild. some days I'll feed them morning noon and night, some days just at night, some days just once, somedays not at all. They are all healthy, active, and brightly colored!

Same, I basically just feed whenever I feel it's needed, judging my how full the fish appear.

nope, youre supposed to not feed one day a week, and one week every year so that the fishes system gets cleared
