I have a male white convict cichlid about 3 and half of inches long tha was in a tank with 2 angels, 1 younge Queztal, and a deformred marbled peacock cichlid which has lived its whole live in a american cichlid set up so i bought it acclimatised to my set up

I added my female black convict about 10 minutes ago and the Queztal and Peacock have chased off the male convict from there spots when he came near and now the male convict is flaring his gils at the female and following her around and now when the peacock or Queztal attack him he fights back and deffends the female are they paring up?

He flares his gills and swims along side her and sort of puts his tail end towards her and sticks his fins right out, i've breed convicts before but never really took notice of there behaviour so this is new to me

I witnessed this behaviour beginning about 3 months ago, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpyeW6zYB-k soon after there was 2 unsuccsesfull egg layings, but after the 3rd lay, I have fry now.
(the white one is the male)

Yep thats exactly what my pair are doing crackatinny

Although i put them in a seperate tank because the male was attacking my red head and now they arent really flirting theyre just coexisting

Well my prob with the 1st 2 lots of eggs, was I still have the bottom of a UGF in the tank, and I think they kept hiding and losing the eggs, put a flowerpot or something in the tank for them to hide them in.
