I think my male Cherry Barb did the nasty for about an hour last night. How long will it take for me to expect eggs/fry to appear?

I set this tank up 2 months ago. I did a regualr water change midday yesterday. Last night I am pretty sure the 1 male Cherry Barb did the nasty with a female (I have 1 male 3 females). NOW this morning, I think the blood fin tetras are at it. I bought 4 of those as well, but I think I ended up with only 1 female. The boys are chasing down the poor lonely female. AND I think the Zebra Danios are getting horny too! What the heck, all I did was a regular water change. I am new to this so I am rather taken back.

You mean they spawned? It's not really called "having sex" in the fish world.

It does sound like you are need of a couple more females.

When fish (egg layers, which barbs and tetras are) spawn they release eggs and sperm at the same time, just about. So if they spawned there will be eggs immedialy. There is no gestgastion period. But if they fish are not taken out chances are they will eat the eggs. If you are interested in breeding your fish you should do some research to at least have an understanding of it.

I have looked and looked but I haven't seen any eggs.

I guess livebearers do actually have sex. But egg scatters, they lose out.

So I still don't see eggs. This is what I witnessed for a good hour or so. The male cherry barb ran around sniffing the female tail then they did this sideways boy on top thingie on and off. Is that spawning?

I am so glad I didn't see any eggs drop just to see the male eat them! So what am I suppose to do when he does the sideways thingie again? I have one male to three females so I am sure there will be a repeat. Help, I am new to this.
