this would obviously by for small fish. it has bubbler, tank, and filtration. is it missing anything?

A ten gallon tank with an filter/airstone and a top is fine imo, and probably about the same cost. A sponge filter will do nicely and you can keep it in a main tank to harbor some bacteria for you if you want to do things that way. Heater depending on what fish you are Qing and where you live.

Bowls add to stress making the fish feel more exposed than with a tank with a background. Other than that I honestly think most bowls are just too small for Q tanks.

I agree, a ten gallon with filter and heater is all you need. Maybe a peice of PVC or two for cover. A ten gallon kit should not cost very much may 30 dollars.

Is this setup for you/co-workers to see or for patients to see?
