Hello Everyone,

I am looking for just basic Cichlid keeping advice, tips or just things I should know. I am doing a lot of reading but there is so much I am just wondering what everyone here has to say. Tips like what kind of decore I should use or could? Is Shells in the tank okay? What is the best way to keep the water. Salt, Baking Soda, What do you guys do? Thanks for all your help!

Frank

Neither Page worked for me. Do you have other links?

I am very interested. I am not sure what Cichlids I want just yet. I need to get my tank set up first. What does yours look like?

Just tested that, click on either, on the right hand side, click on profiles, link to african or new world cichlids from there.

Sorry mate

Don't know why the links did not work, but the above instructions lead to a great variety of cichlids to research as a starting point.

By the way, sorry to here about both your Oscars, I felt so bad, after your advice with my nephews oscar, even in that post you had said that Bubba had the symptons for quite some time.

In a few minutes I will be back home ( Now I am in my office) and then I will introduce my tank, with pics, technical equepement and all.

You will see then, plants and Cichlids are not always enemies.

nanaglen2001,

I am excited to see your set up. I am planning on doing a sand substrate for the first time ever.

Sorry, I didnt catch the joke.

You stated, plants and cichlids are not an enemy, I have recently put togeter a new larger cichlid tank, and wanted real plants, but have silver dollars in there, and they eat any real plant within days.

Aah NOW I understand.

I dont keep Silver Dollars, so I missed it.

But lots of people, all over the world believe Cichlids and plants are natural enemies.

Silver Dollars are characins, not cichlids.
