I am an angelfish breeder living in the tropics Trinidad & Tobago to be exact and I have noticed that my angelfish as well as my tilapia have almost virtually stopped spawning, it is a bit colder at this time of year the water temperatures are in the mid 60s to mid 70s, is there a breeding season for these species?

Welcome to AC!
I do not know the answer to your question but I would imagine it it is more of a dry season - wet season thing than a temperatrure thing. Angels like 78-80F water. I would imagine in their tropical homes it does not vary much.
I know nothing about tilapia.

OK, you're a breeder and you don't know the answer to your own question? :18:

well consider what temperatures are required for your angels to breed. Mine spawned with higher 70s being they're tropical fish. Now for the region they actually come from I don't know if there is any actual breeding season but if you live in an area where the temperatures change I wouldn't be surprised if and artificial breeding season were to emerge since they would need the proper conditions to spawn. I mean if you're a breeder you should probably make sure you've got all your info down cause by my understanding you're gonna have to be able to breed a lot of angels instead of just for a hobby. Then again I wouldn't know. Good luck with your endeavors!

From what I know I would have to agree that the temp sounds a little low for angelfish and it may have slowed their metabolism down. Like someone said earlier try raising the temp to like 78-80 and see if that helps. Good luck.

definitely the temps, I keep Angel breeders at 80-82, I have had the temps as high as 90 to increase spawning frequency
