Jeff, the likes of you, who I know respect this sort of thing, were the main people I put this thread on for.
As well as to bring our cultures into yours, I hope people from all lands do the same from time to time, as I think this is important.
Let me also add, the town I live in, had one of the largest POW camps in the world during WWII, ever heard of the Cowra brakout, if not do some research everyone, at 14, my father used to collect the left over food from the camp, as pig slops, Dont get me wrong, they was treated and fed well, but it was just waste food. Well dad had went out as a 14 yr old the morning after the escape attemp, there was bodies everywhere, and hanging from barbed wire fences, (now as a truck driver for many over 50ys, dad seen a lot of horror on our roads, had even been asked to help police officers rescue people from wrecks, and he was one hard ass bloke), but one day my wife asked him about the morning after the attemp, he went white and silent, Sharon said, its Ok don't worry, he drew a breath and said just give me a sec, I had never seen this reaction from my 60 yr old father at the time father, and soon changed the subject, he had often told us of the camp, and how nice the inmates and officers was, but never had he been asked this question. On the way home the wife said, don't ever let me mention that in front of him again. And till the day he died, it never was brought up again.
Yer, Dad never seen action, but at 14, I think he seen enough.

Crack thats very intresting. Its like our memorial day and veterans day. Too bad nobody now adays treats them like holidays or a day to celebrate for the vets.

The one thing i cant figure out is on veterans day few people go to the semetary.
I see more gang members paying respects to to their fallen and soldiers.

It is. To be honest I think we americans dont really care anymore about things. It seems that we live in our little lala land and dont see the harshness of the world (or the reallity of it). People see a child starved next door but then they see Jose from Laos in asia in the same condition and send their money there. People in my schools say we should kill all iraqis and arabbian people. It seems that all kindness in the world (in america at least) has dissapeard. As it seems people are rude and arrogant. It also seems that noone listens to rules anymore (in american again) as you see cops doing U-turns and anyone doing what they want to do. I think we should start soemthing to change this... Infact I have an idea! Ill start a new thread on it.
