Nitrate 40
Nitrite 0
Hardness 120
Ph 6.4
Ammonia 0

I have a 55g with 3 fancy goldfish a penguin bio wheel 350 and a a whisper 60. I got a emperor 400 to replace the whisper but Im not changing yet to prevent a mini cycle because I had just changed half of the bio bags before getting it.

IF your tank is already cyled, they are a little high in the nitrATE department, but you could change that with a big water change. Other than that, your good.

...a water change will bring down the nitrates...and the rest looks quite good!

do a water change for the nitrate.

Your PH is good. Goldfish like 7-7.5, but 6.4's close enough

Five days ago I noticed one fish has a problem with his mouth. It kinda droopy one one side like he had a stroke. I am treating it as rot but I think he could of pissed off one of the other fish. He is always trying to get them to lay eggs and he did have a few scales missing. He could of got him self suck in a plant again, he tries to get them to lay eggs too. I am treating with PimaFix, MelaFix and Maracyn-Two. He is acting fine the scales are healng. I think his mouth looks a bit improved also, but he never stays still so its hard to tell. The meds say not to do a water change.

And to add to the others........water changes will bring down the nitrates. Regular water changes will keep the nitrates at nearly zero.

Next time consider doing a water change before you treat the tank. You are right, changing the water gets rid of the meds, and it sounds like you have done the right thing by treating. Goldfish can tolerate higher nitrATes than some other fish, but 40 is a little too high for my tastes personally. Weekly water changes can be your best friend when it comes to fish keeping!
