i didnt know where to put this, and I figured since the Mayan is an American cichlid, I might as well put it here. I brought home more than 100 "feeders" that I collected yesterday and the cichlids were having a ball, the jaguars ended up looking like 9month old pregnant.

during the feeding frenzy my better half was snapping pictures like crazy, trying to capture it all. unfortunately our little camera sucks it's difficult to catch these things in focus.

anyways, here you go:

Thats a good pic. But I dont think its good practice to feed feeders to your fish. you can really harm them. feeders are kept in horrible shape and even worse living quarters. if you want to feed live you should use insects or breed the feeders yourself. Just my two cents:ssmile:

those aren't store feeders. they are wild-caught Gambusia holbrooki (Eastern Mosquitofish). I collect them, as well as grass shrimp, when I go collecting/dipnetting:22:

I would still worry about parasites and dieseses coming from wild stock.

i brought back well over 100, but they were split about 60/40 with the turtle tank getting about 60% and the cichlids got about 40%. they made quick work of them in less than 2 days. my idea was for the cichlids to eat a few, and have the rest living with them and eat them at a slow pace...they disagreed with me and just stuffed themselves as much as they could:sconfused:

That picture would be a good candidate for a caption contest.
