I've found my Otos will eat some brands but not others, so you may have to experiment a bit. Try putting one in every other day, otherwise you risk overfeeding.

If there's anything left of the wafer after a few hours, vacuum it out so it doesn't pollute your tank. I do this with my shrimp tank. Use a turkey baster - someone here suggested that and it works great!

I would wait to feed them. You can also break the wafer into smaller pieces.

Otos are indeed very lively and active fish, normally.

Even my Kuhli loaches eat algae wafers. I have 3 Otto's and have only seen them on a wafer a few times and yes they are always busy. I also have 2 SAE so they munch wafers as well. I break the wafers into smaller pieces, about the size of my pinky fingernail. The Malaysian trumpet snails I have will usually finish whatever doesn't get eaten and the SAE don't leave much at all. I use Hikari brand wafers by the way.
