acclimating to metal halide

We are picking up a 250 watt HQI fixture later this week to replace the t-5's on the left half of our tank. We already have a 250 watt hqi on the right half. What is the best and safest way to acclimate the t-5 side to the much more powerful HQI?

Cut down on the photo period and over a few weeks increase the time MH is on until you reach what you would normally have the lights on.

Thanks miltthumbs2: I'll give that a try and I'll also hang it higher then usual to keep the intensity down
