Added half a dozen neons to my tank today and one was attacked by a ghost shrimp. I jumped from the bottom of the tank and grabed it by the tail and proceded to eat half the tail before it got away. Has any one else seen this?

What temperature is your tank? Ghost shrimp get more aggressive at higher temps (like 78-79+)

78 degrees. My heater can't be adjusted.

theyre more rowdy above 73F, so hes maybe the culprit unless the neon died and hes carrying the corpse

That is most likely it then. A variable temp heater is extremely valuable imo. Doesn't really cost much more than a cheapie.

Its kinda scary to see like 20 shrimp in a 80F tank swarm snails like little rabid kids to candy. GS are harmless at low temp, devils at high temp

Although I'm sorry for the loss of the fish, that must have been quite a sight!

Ha maybe thats why my neons were dieing. I had Neons in a tank with Frogs and Shrimp about 6 months ago and in a weeks 6 would be gone. For some reason I aways thought it was the Frogs, but could not belive it was the Frogs. Now I know it was the shrimp, even though I did not acualy see the shrimp eat them.
