How are you sure he is eating if you haven't seen him? (Besides looking at his belly!! :ssmile: )

He's alive...:hmm3grin2orange: There really is no way, you just kind of hope that they're eating. :22:

He must be eating if he has lived for 7 years. Otherwise that would be the worlds most sawt after fish. The only fish that doesn't need to eat, which would mean no waste, water changes.....:hmm3grin2orange: :14:

Of course i know he is eatiing... but how? Does leftover food float into his space? Do you put into his cave?

He most likely scavenges for food at night when everything else is sleeping...my sun catfish does that all the time, you NEVER see him during the day.

Oh ok :ssmile: I have a fire eel that still wont eat, after a couple of weeks now :scry: Do you think he's been doing the same? A bunch of my apple snails have been coming up dead too..

Most likely...fire eels can be quite stubborn at first, going on small hunger strikes, but they will eat once they are hungry enough. If he's fairly new to the tank, I wouldn't doubt it if he's just pouting. Wait it out, and he'll eventually eat. :22:

That's amazing. How did you know it was even in there? was it a shock to see that it was after not seeing it for that long?
