I'm looking for a new powerhead for my 125 gallon mbuna tank.Has anyone had any experience with the hydor koralia ones?It looks like they put out really good flows with very little power consumption.Any other ideas are welcomed as well.It can't be noisy or vibrate against the glass as my tank is in the living room.

i would suggest an AC70 powerhead (w/quickfilter attachment). powerful powerhead, and the quickfilter offers extra water polishing.

What are you looking for? Low volume and high pressure or high volume with low pressure?
The Koralia will move a lot of water around but it will do so in a much more gentle way than other powerheads like the MaxiJets or the Aquaclears. If you want a thin strong blast then the Maxijets or the ACs are what you want. The Koralia though provides a much more natural flow and along with the Tunze powerheads, they are the most popular with marine fish keepers.
When you consider what nature gives them, it is high volume but low pressure, and that is what the Tunze or Koralia will give you. Tunze powerheads are high end and will cost you a good bit, Koralia gives you the same thing at a much lower cost.

I am looking for something to help keep stuff from settling on the sand.I have 3 xp3's,but they don't give great current especially in the back of the tank. Will the koralia's keep things moving and not let them settle or do i need a more high pressure powerhead like a aqua clear?Basically i have a dead spot at the back/bottom of my whole tank and i need some current to run thru that area to keep the poo and such from settling.

or you could just hardline your XP3s so that the return on one of them is lower in the tank. then you wouldnt need to spend any more mony. (maybe $5 in PVC and parts)

Yes the Koralia will keep things moving just like you want it to. Personally I would go with the Koralia over the AC anyday.

Ditto.
I would get a Koralia 3 or 4 and place it about half way down one side pane, pointing slightly down. Or put two Korolia 1's on each side and do the same.

Koralia's are awesome. I've got 5 in our 75 gallon reef. Very natural current and they really keep thing moving

With 3 XP3s, you should have more than enough water movement, its just a matter of redirecting it.

I've heard nothing but good things about koralias.

As already stated just redirect the flow on one of the exhaust tubes. I have a Rena Xp3 on my 55gal and there are no dead spots.

Well the reason i have dead spots at the bottom/back of the tank is i have rockwork and tons of other decorations from one end to the other and it really blocks the flow from being able to get back there.I have tried aiming the spraybars further down but then my sand gets blown out and then there are holes,so i thought a powerhead of some sort would be a good addition to the back of the tank.I'm pretty sure even with my 3 xp3's i still have less current than like 1 fx5.On the boxes the rena's came in,it stated that with full of media and the length of the return lines i was only pushing around 190 gph.So who knows, but i think the koralia is the way i'm gonna go.Thanks for all your responses though.

250GPH x 3, is more than enough considering a single XP3 is almost enough by itself.
a little DIY creativity, and you can hardline all 3 XP3 returns wherever you want them and lose the deadspots all together.
either way. if youd rather just spend more money and get a powerhead, the koralia will definitely do the trick.
