Shredded Fins and scaleless

I woke to find my orandas fins badly shredded and one had no scales. Their tails looked as if its bleeding internally. I have a sucker fish and a 2" bumble bee catfish also in the tank. The "scaleless fish" is hardly swimming and keeps to the surface of the tank. I saw him trying to go to the bottom and he just went right back up. Can someone please help me?

is the blood at the start of the fins? then, its the start of hemorrhagic septicemia. If its at the tips, its REALLY nasty bacterial fin rot. what size tank is it? what are your parameters?

Its at the start of the fins got a 29g

Sounds like your fish were put in an uncycled tank. The results usually are ick or fin rot due to the stress they went thru. The one sounds as it has bloat and there's not much that can be done for that. You could try some cooked, frozen peas, mashed, but generally when they're sick they won't eat either.

Goldfish are dirty fish and require large water changes and often.

I do about a weekly 30-40% water change. What kind of medication is recommened?

Metafix may help or Metafix and Primafix used together. Both are all natural ingredients.

Blood fin rot is SERIOUS. Thats extremely bad. I had a betta a long time ago who got it, and after a month with severe treatment, aka puting him on a foam plate and wiping Mercurochrome on it, the bacteria still didnt die. i had to euthuanise him.

Treat with some salt too.

Goldfish don't like salt. If you don't see the fin rot getting better very soon, get a bacterial med but don't let it go too long.

little off topic question.

At my lfs's with the goldfish, they have little plastic cups at the bottom of the tank with salt in them.

Whats the point of that????
