I know that your supposed to have a fine substrate (or sand) for cories so they don't damage their barbels, but how fine? I have eco-complete and was wondering if that was fine enough.
I don't have corydorus yet, but I'm interested in getting a few of the smaller species.

As long as its not a sharp edged substrate they will be fine in there.
You are not the first to have eco complete and corys.I beleive many members here do.

Eco-complete should be a fine substrate for them. Often times barbel loss is due to poor water quality, not due to the substrate. I've got my cories on TMS and they have shown no signs of barbel erosion.

That's good to know. I need a species to fill the bottom section of my tank but cuz the tank was set up without any particular fish in mind, I didn't know if it would be safe for them.
I am thinking some small corys like Corydoras brevirostris, cochui, loretoensis, metae, pygmaeus, or habrosus.
You should be able to see my tank setup below in tank profile, so how many of which above should I add?
