My next door neighbor has what we believe is a 25 gal. tank. It is only a smidge larger than mine. She has some mollies in it, only like 3. She wants to get an angelfish (or two) but I told her I would ask- I think 25 is too small for angels. Do they have dwarf angels?

I consider it too small.Well kept angels get as big as a mans hand. There are no dwarf angels.

Yeah I feared that. I have been looking online and saw that some people keep them in a 10, and you could do them in smaller tanks as long as you do large, frequent water changes...

There is no way an angel could be happy and healthy in a 10 gallon tank even with large water changes. Just for reference...... my young angel is already 5+ inches tall from the ends of her fins. And she has plenty of growing to do.

Angels need about 10 gallons each. That is not the same as putting one in a 10 gallon tank. Wayyyyyyyyy too small.

My own personal opinion: If she only has only three Mollies in a 25 gal. tank, she can probably get away with two Angels in there. I have a friend with one Angel in a 10 gal. for about two years now.

However, when the Angels get a little bigger, she can kiss the Mollies goodbye.

I have seen in person the affects of keeping an Angel in a tank thats to small. I wouldn't have an Angel in anything under 50gal.

I would not do it either. It is just to small for the fish to grow properly.

My guess is that the angle in the ten gallon is stunted. They are big fish that can grow upto 12" tall, though normally smaller. Maybe ten inches. Also they can get around 8 inches nose to tail. The smallest tank I would put one in is a 40. Looking up tank sizes 25 gallon is 24x12x20. If this is the dimentions of the tank the hight looks ok, but it does not give the fish enough room, even if it was the only fish. And I definaly would not put two is a tank this small. Angels are not the most friendly of fish. They are teritorial.

I would not keep even a single angel in a 25g. They not only can get large, but also need lots of room for proper fin development.
