Any of you ever heard of a band named Silverchair, well they are an Aussie band.
Well out here in the country Aus, nothing big usually ever happens, but this nationally reknowned band started a competition on a radio station, the winning town nationally would get a free concert by them, called One night stand. A young girl at the school I work at, was studying promational organisation, and took this comp to heart to win it for our town of about 12000, well at just 18, she took partitions, got sponsership, and won it.
This may seem nothing to overseas members, but the concert was held tonight, with a crowd expectancy of at least 45000, I could hear it clear as day here, and I live about 3 mile from the venue, I reckon this was a great effort on her part, and a big boost for our little town.

Yea, I was kinda wondering what the heck you were going to tell us :)
Great for that girl who got the gig for the town, hopefully other youngsters will see this and realize that just about anything is possible if you put your efforts into it!

Crack post a thred with a title that could be misinterpreted? Never!
Gotta love his sense of humour. :19:
As for the thread topic, we have something similar here in Canada. It's called "Hockeytown" and it's a national contest where small cities and villages try to prove that they love hockey the most. It they win, the get to host an NHL game.
I guess the equivalent in Australia would be a pro soccer match or something.
It's pretty cool and the towns get a lot of exposure 'cause the constest is aired on national television.
