Well, my favorite Mickey Mouse Platy died. Seemingly with no indication other than her eating habits. This particular Platy was a bad overeater, so I assume that had something to do with it. The other Platies like to eat too, but nothing like this one! She'd push her way to the front of the chow line every time, ate twice as fast, and was always the last one to give up looking for the last bits in the gravel. At first I thought she was pregnant she was getting so big.

Anyway, I'm not going to repeatedly quarantine a fish to keep it from eating too much for the rest of it's life. That seems like a losing battle to me.

sorry to hear that. i've got a couple of sepaes that are pigs too and i'm a little concerned about them. i'm too sure on what to do other than cut back on how much i feed all of my fish.

That's the real problem. If you cut back, the aggressive eaters will still eat as much. It's the passive eaters and bottom feeders that will suffer.

I have the same issue with one of my cardinal tetras, so I just dump in everything at once instead of a little at a time. Sure some falls into the substrate, but this way, there so much food in the water that the tetra can't steal it all one piece at a time.

I agree that a quarantine is pointless. I tried it once and gave up after a week.
