hey guys,

the pleco i got for my tank died after two days in the tank... but the way it happened was weird... this is just a common pleco by the way... he was eatin some algae and then he dropped off the wall... so i figured ok he's just goin somewhere else to get some grub and then he started like sporadically swimming... he would swim really fast upside down to the surface and then stop and be like paralyzed as he fell to the floor of the tank....

no idea what happened but it took like an hour or so...

please any advice or ideas would help as the rest of my fish seem fine but i don't want anything else to happen

no drastic changes have been made to the tank, just the addition of java fern and that's it

I'm sorry about your pleco. What are your water parameters?

Could just be poor stock. I always see many small dead plecos at all my LFS'. 4 months should be established enough for a pleco. Maybe acclimation could be part of the prob?

idk... hopefully it's just bad stock as my tank is pretty solidly set up pH level and all but idk just a bad draw of the cards :(

Must be.
Its almost impossible to kill a common pleco, even in purpose. Those things are pretty rugged.

that's what i remembered haha... had one with my old 10 gal and the thing was rugged... like i finally got serious and started testing my water and everything and it was a mess both with amonia and the pH level... so idk... just kinda caught me off guard that he died so quickly
