well my tank has been up and running for a few days now, fish are doing great. however, i dont have 100 percent water clarity - i can see a whole bunch of super tiny particles floating around in the tank when i look really close. is this from excess food/ filter problems??

What size tank? what kind of filter? What media is in the filter? What kind of fish? What do they eat and how often?

Possibly.

Please describe the mechanical filtration media you currently have in place as well as the type of filter and bioload of the aquarium.

What sort of substrate are you using? How well did you rinse it?

If you are using sand, flourite, or some other dirty substrate and didn't rinse it well you may need to do some WCs to get rid of the particulate. You may also need to add more polishing media to your filter.

when you say "the tank has been up and running for 5 days", do you mean thats the total amount of days its been running?
if so, its probably becausethe tank needs to cycle.

it is a 75 gallon tank. at the moment i have two red belly pacus (guessing 5 inch a piece) and a 7 inch african knife fish. i am running fluval 305 and topfin 30 filters. the substrate is comprised large pebbles, about marble sized. both the filters and substrate are second hand, so im guessing it might have something to do with the filter media. how do i assist the filter in doing its job ( clearing up the water) without hurting the ammonia neutralizing bacteria?

What do you feed? How much? What media are in the filters? Filter floss is effective at polishing water.

I would suggest stuffing some floss in your canister, should polish the water and clear it up quite a bit.
