I got a gourami a few weeks ago from the LFS - the guy said they work wonder for hair/fur algae. My Gourami seems to be doing a great job so far.

I have noticed he seems to poo a lot - whenever I see him there's a long string of poo - like 10-15cm's.

Its probably normal as he looks fairly healthy but I've never seen a fish poo so much compared to my other fish.

When it comes to cleaning time on my tank all I see lying around is the long strands of the gourami's poo.

Should I be concerned?

I dont think you really should be concerned about the length of the poo so much as the color of it.

I wouldn't be concerned greg! Any and all Gouramis that I have had always were the same in that regard. Livebearers are big waste producers like that as well.

I always let my fish fast for 1 day a week, as this lets their stomach empty and helps prevent constipation. You may also want to check on how much/often you are feeding them and what foods you are feeding....they only need very small portions twice a day (some only feed once a day) and variety is essential. But no need to be concerned if everything likes fine!:ssmile:
