I've been looking for a fish that can be kept by itself in a five gallon tank. Not other fish would be in the tank

Betta would be a super choice thumbs2:

ok, not a betta. I already have one and, though I love him, I was hopeing for soem variety. Maybe something I could add to my current 5 gallon betta tank?

So not a fish kept alone, a fish that could be kept with a betta, correct?

You could try adding a female guppy or two, depending on the temperament of your betta. Male guppies would likely harass the betta, trying to mate with it. Shrimp are another good option though they may become dinner.

I was hopeing for a fish that could be kept alone (for a possible future 5 gallon) OR a fish that could be kept with my betta

A lone dwarf puffer could work in a 5g. Just know you'll need a supply of live snails to feed him. I keep Endler's in my 5g currently.

How about some African Dwarf Frogs? They are pretty neat! :19:

for the betta tank or the solo? I would enjoy an ADF though:11:

They might do okay with a betta, but I was thinking 2-3 in the new 5g. I think they "want" about 1-2 gallons each so I think you could happily house 2-3 in the new 5g. They're pretty neat looking and cute!

I was actually thinking of them for my 46gal community. What do ADF eat?

They need a high protein diet. Bloodworms should work good. I think most amphibian pellets or sticks would be too large.
