I thought you were kidding. I googled it to see what I could find, and came up with this site. Has a video of this little guy in action doing his dirty work. Wow.

Human eyes can only see three colours - blue, yellow and red. Mantis Shrimp (not really shrimps) eyes can see around 360 different colours. I have to be really careful with this guy as he could smash up the holding tank (yes, smash the glass walls).

I think he's cute!

Give him a tough-shrimp name like "Crusher" and enjoy him!

It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye (or gets their arm broken)

He is about 8". Strikes with the force, speed and strength of a .22 caliber bullet, hence the glass breaking bit and the broken bones.

In Fiji they are known by locals as "thumb spliters" for obvious reasons.

In actuality, a .22 isnt really that strong of a cartridge. Sure, it goes 1250 fps, but so does my pellet gun. Most modern cartridges for larger calibers go upwards of 3000 fps. Although the .22 calliber goes semi fast, i dont think it could actually break your arm. Although, i must admit, i would NOT want to mess with this guy. Is he a pest species, or did you buy him. If hes a pest, how do you get rid of him?

I could definitely see that rupturing some blood vessels though. Internal bleeding = no fun.

I don't have photoshop. I'm getting it in a couple of weeks.

Maybe not, but .22 is bloody strong for an 8" invertebrate I have to say.

Didn't buy him (as they are illegal). Came in on a piece of wild coral I guess. The only reason why I keep him is because I am one of the few reefers in NZ who has one of these. Out of the 300 (tops) marine keepers here, no more than 10 people might have them (usually because they are killed during quarantine if they are found)
