my dwarfs are in bad shape and i have no idea whats wrong. one has been treated with melafix for 4 days with 0 signs of improvement. all other fish in tank appear to be fine and water conditions test fine with last w/c being on saturday at 10%. i did lose one gourami over the weekend and will probably lose another over the night. i do think however that maybe one of my red honey g's may have the begining stage of this too. check out the pix.

well i went to wally world at 10:15 last night to see what i could find and of course they really didn't have squat but i did pick up some ICK AWAY and it says it treats one type of fungus so i said "f it, it can't hurt anthing to try it at this point." well both guys made it throught the night and seem to have atad bit more energy than they did last night but that isn't saying much at all. we'll see how they fare through today and see what they look like when i get home this evening. i am still up for suggestions on what to do and need to know what is they have if anyone can help.

I wish I could help you as I had a dwarf flame gourami develop a very similar spot in the same area, but I could never figure out what it was. I tried melafix primafix and ADI fungal treatment (which killed half my tank), and I still could not save him.
I wish you the best of luck though.

Some of the stuff they get is darned hard to tell between bacterial and fungal, too. You have to try to get a med for both. He almost looks like he was in some decoration and scrapped his noggin' when he tried to get out. You don't have any decorations that he could have gotten stuck in, I presume? And it would be unlikely that two would end up with the same thing.

hobbs the areas they hung out in didn't have anything they bump in to. they typically stayed at the top. it seems now that one is developing a swim bladder problem now and floats up to the top of the bowl after he tries to go down. i think i'm going to have to put them out of their misery soon :(
