Well, after looking at the pythons online, they look like something that can be easily made. What do you think, I'm going to look at the local hardware stores for some plumbing supplies that could work, only because i would need a 50-75 foot python, and dont want to pay the money for it if i can make it for cheaper!

All you need is a garden hose, a waterbed fill and drain kit, a gravel vac, and a female adapterd that will fit the hose.

The hose and fill/drain kit is self explainitory, but you need to get the small tube to fit the garden hose adaptor. Boil some water, soak the end of the small tubing with it, and then stretch it to fit. You might want to intergrate a ball valve in there somewhere too, so you can control the flow, and to turn it on/off.

Around here, the parts for a python would cost just as much. The hose and the brass fitting are not all that cheap imo.

Just buying 50-75 foot of hose is not cheap either. And some of it may be made with material that shouldn't go in a fish tank.

I did luck out by having 25 ft work for me. I do my 3 tanks in the bedroom from my bathroom and the living room tank from the kitchen.

I have a DIY Python.
1 water bed filling attachment
1 25' garden hose
1 gravel cleaning end

The garden hose is safe, if you were concerned you could use plastic tubing. The whole thing cost me less then $5, but only because I had everything but the hose.

If you REALLY want to use the vinyl tubing, you can go to your local hardware store. I checked, and its 14 cents a foot here. REALLY cheap if you dont spend a tone of money on the hose.

ok, it works. I spent about 7 bucks on parts, had the hose, ran HOT water through it for a long time, until it no longer smelled like "hose water" just smells like its coming right out of the tap. I think its safe to say I saved some money.

I went everywhere looking for a waterbed drain/fill kit, and my last resort was a small hardware store about 20 minutes from me, they had it! none at lowes target or walmart, home depot, sears...sheesh. Thank god for the yellow pages, saved a lot of trips!

Good for you. Geez. I need to have you around. You saved a bunch on lights on now on your "phython". Maybe I should have you build my stand!
