I picked up a pair of Synodontis lucipinnis today to keep my petricola company. They're quite active and when I added them to the tank the two were glued together. I'm not quite sure if they were exhibiting aggression or pairing behavior but they've chilled out since then. I got some photos of what they were doing, maybe someone with more syno experience can tell what they're doing.

Cool pics!thumbs2:

I'm not sure what's happening...maybe one is establishing dominance - either for a territory, or it's a m/f pair for mating later on?

Nice looking fish Lab Rat. thumbs2:

To my unexperienced eyes it looks like they are dancing.

Nice. They sure stick together. My featherfins don't get along so well.

LOL...it would appear so. Is that the dance you performed NG as you fell in love for the first time? Sorry I missed it.

Nice looking fish, they're my favorite Syno. I had a group of 10 in a 55, had to move 2 out because their fins were a bit stubby. They've grown back just fine now, and they get along well together. Apparently there were simply too many males in the group. From what I can tell there are only 2 females (very fat, most likely gravid) and the rest are males. Have tankspace for a couple more? They are more active/visible in larger groups than 2-3.

Hmm, possibly...if I don't add any mbuna. I've got a total of 4 synos in there now, 3 lucipinnis and 1 petricola (couldn't find any petricola locally). Not sure of the sex of any of them. I'll probably trade in some of the zebra obliqs as they mature.
