I have a 12g nano cube that is cycling right now.
I have four live plants in it (don't know the names, but they are the "easy care" variety).
I would like to eventually stock it as follows:
1 Dwarf Gourami
4 Male Platys
4 Lemon Tetras
Would that be going way overboard? I know it goes over the 1 in. rule, but I thought the size of the fish might make it ok????
Any thoughts would be a great help!!!!!

That plan is fine.
The 1" rule is bogus. there really is no rule you can use for stocking

Actually, there is a rule. "Always ask someone with experience."

That will be fine. Don't get a mix of male/female platies though, or your tank will get swamped with fry.
How much lighting is over that nanocube? 24 watts?

Thanks for the replies!!!!
The tank was a gift for my daughter and it is actually a nano cube "nock off" made by cube masters. It has 3 8w flo. bulbs.
I am 10 days in to cycling the tank with 3 platys and a dwarf gourami along for the ride. I know now that having those fish in there is a bad idea, but I received some bad advice from a local fish store owner.
I have been testing the water for the last 5 days or so, and the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels have been all zeros???? I don't know if the plants are keeping the levels good, but it just seems a little weird after all of the cycling horror stories I have read.
I included a pick of my tank, maybe someone can identify my plants for me! If you look closely, you can see by little dwarf gourami (he is an awesome little fish).

Nice looking tank.
If you are cycling with fish, you should see some ammonia after the first day. I dont know what to tell you. Hmmmmmm

I just bought the test kit 5 days ago, so maybe it spiked really quick???

I don't think it can spike that quick. The fish have not been in the tank long enough for ammonia to really kick in and the amount of plants there is not enough to compensate for the fish you have given your lighting and other conditons (CO2)

The Plants in the center are Anachris - My LFS calls the ones on the right Red Krinkle (Not sure why - they don't seem to be red or krinkly:confused: )
