hey, so, a pearlscale gold fish in a heated, filtered tank. i was inquiring whether a betta would be too aggressive for the goldy? the goldy's fins are maybe an inch long at most. he's mostly just really fat. what do you think?

Goldfish actually don't need / shouldn't have heated water. They are cold water fish (ours stay around 62-68 degrees) and need about 20 gallons for the first goldfish and 10 gallons for each additional goldfish as a rule of thumb.
Goldfish and betta fish would not be compatible, for the reasons of temperature (bettas like it around 80 degrees), the amount of waste goldfish produce, and a completely different dietary requirement.
Sorry! It would be cool if they could co-exist healthily. They're some of my favorite types of fish.

aw, ok thanks Jill. this is why i ask. thumbs2: the gold fish is in a 20 gallon at a friends, and im trying to rehome my betta, so i thought it might work. i'll let them know about the heater too
