Im getting my first signs of algae its just starting to turn the rocks and heater green. I have a little on the glass which is an eye sore. The tank is a planted tank with a co2 system. Any ideas on how to slow the growth of said algae

Is the tank getting sunlight from the outside?

Apply more plants, more plants eat more nutrients, less nutrients less algae. What kind of lighting do you have?

Thats good light for that tank.Get some plants that feed from the water column such as horn wort, cabomba if you can find it,ludwigia, basically any stem plant will be a fast eater and pull its nutrients directly from the water and not from the substrate.

Could using a plant growth cause this? I dont recall the full name but its made by Marine its Freshwater plant growth and I use about 5mm once a light. Trying to get my dwarf grass to grow quicker

Thats the rub really.Maybe it is ,if your plants dont need the extra nutrients then it left over in the water to feed the algae. How many plants do you have in the tank?

I would add more plants as well. I would not use the ferts until you see signs yoiu need them.

What ya got there isnt exactly a hungry bunch.Very little if any fert will be needed for them and then it would be better to give them root tabs.

Root tabs are fertilizer pellets that you place in the gravel for root feeding plants, which is what you have.
