Free Fish..but what is it? [Archive]

craigslist lead me to a new 10g gallon tank, and i didnt know that it came with a fish and i told her i just wanted the tank, she said ok, caught the fish in the net and proceeded to the tiolet,
I yelled hold on ill actually take it, she had no idea, i had no idea whta it was lol

what is it?

looks clumsy
its orange with a little bit of black tips on the fins

Definitely an african cichlid. Probably too big for the tank.

It is definitely an electric yellow lab cichlid.

It will need a way bigger tank than 10g, and it's not at all compatable with community type fish.

They're really nice fish, but go in an mbuna cichlid tank, vs. a tropical type set up.

It's a yellow lab, like CF said. I'd try to rehome it, they really need a 4' tank. It's a malawi mbuna, a type of african cichlid.

wow i had no idea, i actually wanted cichlid, but i new my tanks werent big enough, well ill try craigslist for a bigger tank, and change the entire sseupt of the tank

Tallenskinny, aren't you one of the other people that lives right around me? A student at CSUMB i think? I'll ask a friend that keeps africans if he'd like another yellow lab if that's the case. Might be able to rehome it for you real fast then, because unfortunately none of the stores around here will take it from you I don't think.

ya i am, i actaully already got rid of it, im back home for the holiday, so i gave it to my dad friends who has a 70 something gallon tank
